As part of the renovation of the historic Druze Stadium in Bolzano, which included the redevelopment and expansion of the buildings, with partial demolition and reconstruction of the stands, to create a modern and innovative stadium, the playing field also needed to be completely redone. Our company oversaw all phases of the project, from the definition of the executive design to the final delivery of the pitch.
The standards required by the Municipality of Bolzano were defined by the Regulations of the Serie B League, but were inspired by the international models of the best European stadiums.
The work involved excavating the old soil to a depth of about 50 cm. The field needed to be re-centered with respect to the new location of the stands. From this new container, A state-of-the-art field was built: a new irrigation system with 35 remotely controlled sprinklers; a new drainage system; a new heating system powered by district heating with sensors for automatic temperature regulation; construction of a 46 cm thick stratigraphy using specific materials sourced from dedicated quarries; supply and installation of new turf sods made of 100% Poa pratensis, the latest generation, grown on silica sand, sourced from our own nursery production; installation of sports equipment.
The construction work lasted approximately two and a half months: from June to August 2020, and then continued with the maintenance phase.
